Protocols of the Elders of Islam #2

by Sheila Musaji

Here are the bare bones of what is actually known about the most recent “Muslim manifesto” discovered by the Islamophobes.  Some guy in Africa has a bigoted website and claims to be a Sheikh and run an International organization.  No one has ever heard of this person or his organization outside of their own site.  He decided to send an email threat to WND demanding that they cease publishing anti-Muslim stories, and then WND discovered that he had published a document on his site and made anti-Christian, and extremist statements.  Other than his pitiful website, and his contacts with WND, no one seems to have ever heard of this man, his organization, or their publications.

Not much of a story.  There are hundreds of thousands of sites that some lunatic with a “point of view” about something or another maintains to promote whatever lunatic worldview they hold.  Nevertheless this man, his “organization”, and one of his publications is suddenly big news in the Islamophobia Echo Chamber.

The source for this most recent “Muslim manifesto” nonsense seems to have been Bob Unruh of World Net Daily (WND).  In March of 2012, he posted an article on WND claiming that a person named Faarooq al Mohammedi claiming to represent an organization called United Muslim Nations International had sent an email to WND threatening them if they didn’t change their style of reporting about Islam.  Unruh said When the original message was received, WND contacted Mohammedi to ask him to explain his concerns, and he provided a telephone number that appears to be in Africa.  He also says WND sources suggest that Mohammedi is not a “serious player.” ...  While Mohammedi said the organization’s website was not operating, WND located a site that appeared to represent the organization. ... The site also said its headquarters is in Jerusalem.”

The link Unruh provides is from a 2009 article on a site called The True Religion.  When this article was posted, WND knew that this person “was not a serious player”, had a telephone number “that appears to be in Africa”, and that “the organization says its headquarters is in Jerusalem”.  Nevertheless, they thought it worthwhile to post the article.

The only references I have been able to find to the individual named Faarooq al Mohammedi (and I checked all the variant spellings I could think of Farooq, Faruk, Farouk, Farouq, etc.), or to an organization called United Muslim Nations International (UMNI) are either from the UMNI wordpress site, or from WND or other Islamophobia network sites, and those all appear after Unruh’s original article about this new Muslim menace.

This particular story did not receive much traction, and I can’t find anything on the WND site that says whether or not they turned this email threat over to the authorities, or if there were any further contacts or developments.

Then, on 7/7/2012 Michael Carr published another article on WND.  In that article, he says:

A Muslim group has released its plan to “wipe Christianity from the face of the earth,” Islamize the West and establish an Islamic system of world government – placing those who resist “under a police state.”
The 23-page booklet, “The Global Islamic Civilization: The Power of a Nation Revived” is the brainchild of the United Muslim Nations International, a group led by Sheik Farook al-Mohammedi. The document outlines a plan for Muslim world domination and the re-establishment of the Caliphate.  Al-Mohammedi leaves no doubt about his view of Christianity.

The article discusses a document but does not say how or from whom they received this document, nor do they provide a link to any online source for the document.  It took some searching but I found the supposed document in PDF format here.  I also found a Facebook page that seems to be for this group.  Interestingly, the folks at WND missed this document when the first article was written in March.  That article made no mention of the document, although it seems to have been online since 2009.

Here are a few of the supposed quotes that Unruh claims are from Al-Mohammedi and/or this document:

“Christianity should be destroyed and wiped from the face of the earth.  It is an evil demonic and Anti-Christ system, all Christians are in complete Ignorance.”

“Islamic Power has returned upon the face of the earth and the Revived Global Caliphate has set eyes on the West to once and for all rid the world of Christianity and there is nothing you can do about it.”

“I have pledged and made a firm promise to the Caliphate of the United Muslim Nations International organization that I will do my utmost to Islamize all of the West within a short period of time.”

“Today as I breathe the air of our newly found Islamic State of America before my trip this week to Eurabia I leave behind me an Internationalist Islamic Ideology which will be the future of America and Europe Inshallah,” he said.

“None will resist, you will submit! Islam will conquer the hearts of all Christendom, this is a definite reality. Every government has surrendered to the Revived Global Caliphate and those nations who resist will be placed under a police state within their realm.”

In reading through the document I found online, I can’t find any of these quotes.  It is a ridiculous and incoherent rant by someone or another giving themselves a big title and calling a wordpress site an “International organization”.

WND previously knew that this person “was not a serious player”, had a telephone number “that appears to be in Africa”, and that “the organization says its headquarters is in Jerusalem”.  And, from the most suspicious of all of the supposed quotes “Today as I breathe the air of our newly found Islamic State of America before my trip this week to Eurabia I leave behind me an Internationalist Islamic Ideology which will be the future of America and Europe Inshallah.” they also know that this person claims to have visited the U.S. and Europe.  I can’t imagine that an individual who was actually of any note at all, spreading such a doctrine, would not be on a “no fly list”.

According to this article, WND contacted this person but he did not respond to requests for an interview.  This author then says that WND has asked “Islamic experts” Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugs, Michael Rubin of the American Enterprise Institute, and Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch, and they find the document to be believable.  The links Unruh provides to Robert Spencer and Michael Rubin referencing their comments on the document are dead links.

So, Unruh, Geller, Rubin, and Spencer find the document believable, and they are magnifying its impact by publishing excerpts and articles which are being picked up by other sites, and spreading anti-Muslim hysteria over a document that has no real provenance.

Years ago, before the internet, Henry Ford thought that the “Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion”  “fit in with what is going on” and he distributed 500,000 copies of this fake anti-Semitic document.

Today, the Islamophobic hate machine can reach millions of people with their anti-Muslim propaganda in just a few weeks time by using the internet as an echo chamber and bouncing the same propaganda from site to site.

Pamela Geller republished the WND article, as have hundreds of other Islamophobic sites in the past few days.  Geller introduced Unruh’s article with “This is consistent with Islamic doctrine. There is nothing “radical” in this; it is authentic Islam, pure Islam. When we say it, we are “islamophobes.” When Muslims say it, Obama say, “respect it!”

As I said in an article Muslim Brotherhood Document of the Muslim or Islamophobic Lunatic Fringe? about a previous suspicious document

If this document was written by Mohammed Akram/Adlouni then I hope that he has been deported.  I don’t know who he is or whether or not he is actually a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.  But, if he (or any one else) believes in the nonsense contained in this document, then they are part of what I call the Muslim lunatic fringe.  This document is reprehensible and the ideas it contains about violent jihad, establishing a Caliphate, etc. are all rejected by everyone I know in the American Muslim community.  I can only speak for myself, but I reject this document, and everything it claims to represent!

... I don’t know if this document is legitimate or a fake like the “Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion”.  If it is legitimate, then I am ashamed of those who wrote it, if they call themselves American Muslims.  I pray that it will be investigated and shown to be a fake.  I, like Tarek Masoud, would like to find out if there is some information there that some folks like me don’t have?  It is a product either of the Muslim lunatic fringe, or of the Islamophobic lunatic fringe.  Either way, it has done its damage.

All of that is equally true of this current document.  If anyone is more computer savvy than I am, and can find any other information about this “organization”, or their site and the document, please send me an email at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) so that I can update this article.
