One of these death threats is not like the others
by Sheila Musaji
In January of 2013, Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller, the dynamic duo of hate discovered a “Muslim bomb threat jihad” plot. At that time, I wrote
Pamela Geller has posted another of her non-stories with impossibly long titles: #myjihad in UK: Muslim made Bomb Threat to English Defense League “for a laugh” after real bomb discovered at demo.
As usual, she uses the #MyJihad hashtag so that her minions will continue attempting to overwhelm it with hate.
The facts of the actual story are that a Muslim man was arrested in England for sending a bomb threat hoax to the EDL prior to one of their hate marches.
The man broke the law, did something reprehensible, and deserves to be punished under the law.
Geller spends a lot of time defending the EDL since two of its leaders, who are on her SION Board of Directors are currently in jail. See AFDI/SION’s Leadership: Arrests & Scandals for details.
Geller once again shows her selective concern. It takes only a quick google search to discover that an EDL member was arrested after ‘Breivik’ bomb threat against Muslims and another EDL member was arrested for Birmingham central Mosque Bomb threat.
These incidents are not mentioned by Geller in this article, or anywhere else. She is not actually concerned about the issue of the crime of making bomb threats. She is only concerned with turning up such incidents that may involve a Muslim, and framing such incidents in such a way that it seems as if only Muslims carry out such acts.
This was a criminal act, and certainly had nothing to do with jihad. The religion of the perpetrator has nothing to do with anything unless the religion of the EDL perpetrators also is of some importance. To be logical, Geller would demand that the headlines about the EDL perpetrators be changed to read “Christian Crusaders issue bomb threats”. But, we know that isn’t going to happen.
Also in January, Geller & Spencer “knew” more than authorities and I wrote Geller & Spencer “know” who made French bomb threat: Europol waiting for call
I could find only two news reports anywhere on a bomb threat scare in the Lyon, France subway.
Here is the entire Reuters article
The southeastern French city of Lyon temporarily shut and evacuated its underground railway system due to a bomb alert, local officials and the city’s transport operator said. The metro was later reopened and traffic returned to normal after security experts carried out checks, the operator said.
France is on high alert and has stepped up army patrols of public buildings and transport networks as Islamist militant groups have threatened revenge attacks for France’s military campaign against al Qaeda-linked rebels in Mali.
No information on who might have done this, or who was the anonymous caller. The second part of the article noting a heightened state of emergency over a separate issue may have no connection with this threat. Someone called and said there was a bomb in the metro, police investigated and found nothing. End of story unless the police catch the anonymous caller.
There are thousands of possibilities as to what actually happened, and who was responsible. But Pamela Geller seems to have information not available to the police or Reuters #myjihad in France: Jihadist bomb threat forces evacuation of Lyon metro which she got from her partner Robert Spencer #MyJihad in France: Jihadist bomb threat forces evacuation of Lyon metro.
Geller and Spencer should immediately contact the French police, Europol, and any other relevant law enforcement authorities and provide their information on the identity of this criminal.
Whoever called in this fake bomb threat deserves to be caught, tried, and sent to jail. Whoever did this (whatever their religion) they have committed a crime.
Since the dynamic duo of hate have come up with so many fake stories in the past few weeks all using the #MyJihad hashtag, I doubt that this one is any more accurate.
There have recently been a lot of fake bomb threats. Here are just a few:
— Jessica Dugger-Fry arrested for making false bomb threats against courthouse in Oklahoma **
— Eric Thompson and Whittni Butts arrested for false bomb threat against Oklahoma Capitol & Governor’s Mansion **
— William Bouvay Jr. arrested to bomb threat to Louisiana State University campus **
— Michael B. Huber arrested in hostage & bomb threats in Twin Falls, Idaho **
— Mark Lee Krangle arrested for series of 50 bomb threats to Pittsburgh University **
— Jacob Fetchko arrested for bomb threat to a Hemet, California church **
— Jason Keith Smith arrested for making bomb threats against an Benito High School in Hollister, California **
— Two minors arrested for bomb threat at Hackensack High School in New Jersey **
— 5 teens arrested for making bomb threat to Georgia High School **
— Charles J. Billings arrested for bomb threat against Mohawk Tribal Building in NY **
— Felipe Moraga Martin arrested in bomb threat against Charlotte-Douglas International Airport **
— Dereon Jayronne Kelly arrested for bomb threat against Texas A&M University **
— Teen arrested for bomb threat against Lifegate Christian Shool in San Antonio, TX **
— Carlos Balsas arrested for bomb threat against Liberty Bell in Philadelphia **
— David Reyna arreted for bomb threats against three schools in Monroe, Louisiana **
And, here is another case for which I will give the full arrest announcement from the FBI
U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today that Omer Fadhel Saleh Mohammed, 31, of Rochester, New York, was arrested and charged by criminal complaint with making false bomb threats. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Anthony M. Bruce, who is handling the case, stated that according to the complaint, between September 24, 2012 and January 24, 2013, the defendant made 21 calls to 911 claiming that a terrorist was going to bomb the Kodak Corporation. For instance, the complaint alleges that during one call Mohammed stated the terrorists were “going to blow up the big Kodak.” The 911 calls that specifically referenced Kodak resulted in emergency responses by the Rochester Police and Fire Departments. ...
Only one of these cases received special attention.
Pamela Geller published #myjihad is homegrown: NY Muslim arrested for series of 20 bomb threats. And in her personal comments on this one arrest said “Kodak’s headquarters in Rochester, N.Y., received more than 20 bomb threats from an Islamist.”
Geller refers to an article by Jim Kouri in the Examiner with the title Homegrown radical Muslim arrested for series of bomb threats. That Examiner article with the equally inflammatory headline only contains the information from the FBI statement printed in full above.
Robert Spencer published #MyJihad in New York: Muslim charged with making 21 false bomb threats against Kodak. Spencer personally comments “False bomb threats can work well to “cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers” (Qur’an 3:151) and to fulfill the Muslim’s responsibility to “strike terror into the enemies of Allah” (Qur’an 8:60), as well as to tie up the Infidel’s resources,”
There is NOTHING in the FBI statement except for the name of the accused which might identify the man’s religion. There is NOTHING about him being an “Islamist” or a “radical Muslim”. There is NOTHING about the man’s motive or his mental state, or any information at all yet more than what is included in the FBI statement. The man was “released on his own recognizance” so the FBI must not consider him to be involved in any “jihad plot”.
What is “different” about this case and all the others listed above? Nothing, except that the man has a Muslim name. And, since EVERY community has its’ share of criminals, crazy people, perverts, crooks, etc. it should come as no surprise that sometimes Muslims will be involved in such criminal activities.
Where did Spencer, Geller, and Jim Kouri of The Examiner get these details about this man? They got them from their fevered Islamophobic brains!
And sadly, within minutes of their publishing this hateful propaganda, it was repeated mindlessly in tweets on the #MyJihad hashtag by those who continue to listen to their Islamophobic ranting as if it had any merit.
Here we go again. An anonymous person called in a bomb threat against the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
The Tower was evacuated and police searched it and found nothing.
“French authorities have stepped up counterterrorism measures in recent weeks amid heightened concern about threats to France over its military campaign against al-Qaeda-linked fighters in Mali which began more than two months ago. The tower is occasionally evacuated because of such warnings — at least once last year and twice in 2011. The 1,063-foot tower is one of the world’s top tourist attractions, with millions of visitors a year.”
At this point, that is all that is known. The police are investigating. No one has claimed responsibility for the bomb threat. Nothing has been released about the wording of the threat. Whoever is responsible has committed a crime and should be punished to the full extent of the law.
And yet, Robert Spencer published #MyJihad in France: 1,500 people evacuated from Eiffel Tower after claim of explosives placed there. Spencer’s use of the #MyJihad hashtag is his attempt to link this (without any evidence) with Islam and Muslims.
Spencer, and his partner in the hate group AFDI regularly claim to “know” more than law enforcement and just as regularly, their claims turn out to be false.
According to NY Magazine KKK Member Designed Death Ray to Kill ‘Enemies of Israel’ in Most Confusing Scheme Ever:
... Glenn Crawford is a 49-year-old General Electric employee from Galway, an upstate town located outside of Schenectady. He’s reportedly a member of the tea-party group Americans Demanding Liberty and Freedom and of the United Northern & Southern Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. With the help of at least one accomplice, and perhaps more, he designed and partially built a “radiation emitting device that could be placed in the back of a van to covertly emit ionizing radiation strong enough to bring about radiation sickness or death,” according to an FBI complaint. Crawford offered his Death Ray (we’re calling it the Death Ray, FYI) to various synagogues and local Jewish groups as a weapon they could use against the “enemies of Israel.” The police were alerted and infiltrated Crawford’s plot. He and his accomplice now face fifteen years in prison.
So, back to the first question: What kind of KKK member offers a Death Ray to the Jews? The kind of KKK member that hates Muslims even more. Crawford referred to Muslims as “medical waste” and railed against President Obama for allowing them into the country. “He directed the ins to start bringing the muzzies here without background checks,” Crawford wrote in a text message two months ago, referring to the INS, the immigration agency that has not existed under that name for ten years.
Crawford was apparently under the impression that all he had to do was call up a synagogue, offer them a Muslim-killing Death Ray, and the Jews would take care of the rest for him. “Thank you, Glenn,” the rabbi would say. “We have been waiting for someone to give us a Death Ray. We’re going to go kill all the Muslims now.”
The Times Union added
A federal complaint unsealed Wednesday in Albany said the vehicle-mounted radiation gear was intended to be remotely controlled and capable of aiming a high-energy lethal beam of radioactivity at human targets. The concept was that victims would mysteriously die from radiation poisoning within days.
The FBI on Tuesday arrested Glendon Scott Crawford, 49, of Providence, Saratoga County, and Eric J. Feight, 54, of Stockport, who are accused of developing “a radiation emitting device that could be placed in the back of a van to covertly emit ionizing radiation strong enough to bring about radiation sickness or death against Crawford’s enemies,” according to an FBI agent’s sworn complaint. ...
The Atlantic Wire seemed to find all this humorous, publishing FBI Nails an Alleged KKK Member for Wacky Terrorist Death Ray Plot including a humorous cartoon of a mouse and a death ray.
There has been a series of actual bomb explosions and attacks on mosques in Britain. BBC UK reports that Two Ukrainian nationals, aged 25 and 22, have been detained by detectives investigating explosions at mosques in Walsall, Wolverhampton and Tipton between 22 June and 12 July. One of two Ukrainian men being held over bomb attacks near three mosques has been further charged with suspicion of murdering 75-year-old Mohammed Saleem. The mosque blasts are being considered an act of terrorism. Police have said the murder is also being treated as an act of terrorism.
More on Tipton Mosque explosion, Wolverhampton Mosque explosion, and Walsall Mosque explosions.
It took almost two years, but the KKK fellow who planned the death ray attack is finally standing trial, and it seems that his defense will be entrapment. RESOURCES FOR DEALING WITH ISLAMOPHOBIA SUMMARY
The Islamophobia Industry exists and is engaged in an anti-Muslim Crusade. They have a manifesto for spreading their propaganda, and which states their goal of “destroying Islam — as a culture, a political ideology, and a religion.” They produce anti-Muslim films. They are forming new organizations and coalitions of organizations at a dizzying speed, not only nationally, but also internationally. They have formed an International Leadership Team “which will function as a mobile, proactive, reactive on-the-ground team developing and executing confidential action plans that strike at the heart of the global anti-freedom agenda.”
Currently, the Islamophobia Industry is engaged in a full-scale, coordinated, demonization campaign against American Muslims and Arabs. In just the past few months we have seen a series of inflammatory provocations: There was the Innocence of Muslims film Titanic, a German satire magazine plans an “Islam” cover article to be published later this month. Charlie Hebdo, a French satire magazine published an issue with inflammatory cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad. Newsweek published their ‘Muslim Rage’ cover. Terry Jones held a “trial of Prophet Muhammad”. SION held a “global” gathering in NYC to plan propaganda strategy. A group in Toronto publicized a “walk your dog at the mosque” day. AFDI/SIOA has run a series of anti-Muslim ads on public transportation across the country. AFDI/SIOA are planning to run 8 more anti-Muslim ads. There are three more films on Prophet Muhammad in the works by Ali Sina, Mosab Hassan Yousef and Imran Farasat. They are even bringing their hate messages into public schools.
Daniel Pipes is encouraging publication of “A Muhammad cartoon a day”, and says “So, this is my plea to all Western editors and producers: Display the Muhammad cartoon daily, until the Islamists become accustomed to the fact that we turn sacred cows into hamburger.”. Pipes joins Daniel Greenfield (aka Sultan Knish) who published an appeal on David Horowitz’ Front Page Magazine Is It Time for ‘Make Your Own Mohammed Movie Month’?. And, both are following in the footsteps of such luminaries as Pamela Geller, who promoted just such a plan back in 2010 with her promotion of Draw Muhammad Day, even after the cartoonist who drew the first cartoon and suggested the idea, Molly Norris apologized to Muslims and asked for the day to be called off, and American Muslims had issued a defense of free speech. None of this is surprising as one of the Islamophobes laid out their strategy as “The Muslims themselves have shown us their most vulnerable spot, which is the questionable (though unquestioned) character of the ‘Prophet’ himself. We need to satirise and ridicule baby-bonking Mo until the Muslims fly into uncontrollable tantrums, then ridicule them even more for their tantrums, and repeat the process until they froth at the mouth and steam comes out of their ears.”
The Islamophobia of these folks is very real, it is also strikingly similar to a previous generations’ anti-Semitism, and it has predictable consequences. The reason that this is so obvious to so many is that rational people can tell the difference between legitimate concerns and bigoted stereotypes.
The claim that the Islamophobes are “truth-tellers” and “defenders of freedom” who actually “love Muslims” and have never engaged in “broadbrush demonization” or “advocated violence”, or that nothing that they say could have had anything to do with any act of violence, are nonsense. The claim that they are falsely being accused of Islamophobia for no reason other than their legitimate concerns about real issues and that in fact there is not even such a thing as Islamophobia, or their claim that the fact that there are fewer hate crimes against Muslims than against Jews or that some Muslims have fabricated such crimes “proves” that Islamophobia doesn’t exist, or that the term Islamophobia was made up by Muslims in order to stifle their freedom of speech, or that anti-Muslim bigotry is “not Islamophobia but Islamorealism” are all nonsense.
These individuals and organizations consistently promote the false what everyone “knows” lies about Islam and Muslims (including distorting the meaning of Qur’anic verses, and distorting the meaning of Islamic terms such as taqiyya, jihad, sharia, etc.).
The most commonly repeated false claims about Muslims and Islam are that:
Everyone “knows” that most or all terrorists are Muslims, and there are no Christian and no Jewish terrorists (or terrorists of any other religious stripe), and that Muslims are all militant, inherently violent, more likely to engage in violence against civilians, and more likely than other Americans to be radicalized.
Everyone “knows” that Muslims are not interested in dialogue. That Muslims don’t help Christians in need. That Muslims can’t have Christians as friends, and are anti-Semites, Holocaust deniers, and intolerant of other faiths.
Everyone “knows” that Muslims don’t unequivocally denounce terrorism, that American Muslim leaders have not responded to radicalization in their community, that mosques are the source of radicalization, that 85% of mosques are run by radicals, that Muslims don’t cooperate with law enforcement.
Everyone “knows” that Muslims are not equivalent to real Americans, that they are the enemy within, and a fifth column, that good Muslims can’t be good Americans, that Muslims are not loyal to America, that they are not a part of our American heritage,
Everyone “knows” that Islam itself is the problem and makes Muslims “backward”, that Muslims have made no contribution to the West, that Islam is “of the devil”, a Crescent menace, a “green peril”, that was spread by the sword, an “evil encroaching on the United States”, and not a religion.
Everyone “knows” that this is a Christian nation, which the Muslims are trying to take over, starting with getting an Eid stamp which is the first step towards shariah law which is a threat to America, and a threat to our judicial system, by purposefully having more children than others to increase their numbers, and they will be the majority in this country in 20 years. Muslims are a threat to America
Everyone “knows” that the Muslims’ goal is world domination under a Caliphate, and the proposed Cordoba House in NYC is a demonstration of supremacism and triumphalism, and that Muslims planned to open it on the anniversary of 9/11.
Everyone “knows” that Islam is a monolith and all Muslims are the same, like the “Borg”. This means that every act committed by an individual who is a Muslim is directly attributable to Islam, and never because the individual is crazy, criminal, or perverted.
The problem is that what “everyone knows” is wrong. These self-righteous and incorrect statements are usually followed by a demand that the Muslim community do something about whatever is the false flag of the day or face the inevitable consequences.
Islamophobes falsely claim to see “JIHAD” PLOTS everywhere, particularly where they don’t exist. They, like Muslim extremists, don’t understand the true meaning of the term jihad. The Islamophobes have uncovered countless examples of “shocking”, non-existent Muslim jihad plots.
Islamophobes generalize specific incidents to reflect on all Muslims or all of Islam. Islamophobes consistently push demonstrably false memes such as: - we are in danger from creeping Sharia, - the Muslim population is increasing at an alarming rate, - 80% of American Mosques are radicalized, - There have been 270 million victims of “jihad” - There have been 17,000+ “Islamic terrorist” attacks since 9/11 - Muslims in government are accused of being Muslim Brotherhood plants, stealth jihadists, and creeping Sharia proponents and should be MARGINALIZED or excluded. Muslim and Arab organizations and individuals are connected to the infamous Muslim Brotherhood document or the unindicted co-conspirator label, or accused of not condemning Hamas, telling American Muslims not to talk to the FBI, of being “Jew haters”, etc.
There is a reason that many, even outside of the Muslim community see such demonization of Muslims as Islamophobic. There is a reason that the ADL has stated that Brigitte Gabriel’s Act for America, Pamela Geller & Robert Spencer’s Stop the Islamization of America (SIOA), David Yerushalmi’s Society of Americans for National Existence (SANE) are “groups that promote an extreme anti-Muslim agenda”. There is a reason that The Southern Poverty Law Center has designated SIOA as a hate group, and that these individuals are featured in the SPLC reports Jihad Against Islam and The Anti-Muslim Inner Circle. There is a reason that these individuals and organizations are featured prominently in: — the Center for American Progress reports “Fear Inc.” on the Islamophobia network in America and Understanding Sharia Law: Conservatives skewed interpretation needs debunking. — the People for the American Way Right Wing Playbook on Anti-Muslim Extremism. — the NYCLU report Religious Freedom Under Attack: The Rise of Anti-Mosque Activities in New York State. — the Political Research Associates report Manufacturing the Muslim menace: Private firms, public servants, and the threat to rights and security. — The ACLU report Nothing to Fear: Debunking the Mythical “Sharia Threat” to Our Judicial System — in The American Muslim TAM Who’s Who of the Anti-Muslim/Anti-Arab/Islamophobia Industry. There is a reason that the SIOA’s trademark patent was denied by the U.S. government due to its anti-Muslim nature. There is a reason that these individuals and organizations are featured in just about every legitimate report on Islamophobia and anti-Muslim hatred.
See Resources for dealing with Islamophobes for many more reasons that these people cannot be trusted.
