MS. SUSAN DOUGLASS

Ms. Douglass is the Principal Writer and Researcher for the Council on Islamic Education. She holds an M.A. in Arab Studies from Georgetown University. Her publications include Strategies and Structures for Presenting World History and instructional resources such as Beyond A Thousand and One Nights: Literature from Muslim Civilization, Emergence of Renaissance: Cultural Interactions between Europeans and Muslims (co-authored with Karima Alavi), Images of the Orient: European Travelers to Muslim Lands, and an elementary series on Muslim history and culture. She is also author of the report Teaching About Religion in National and State Social Studies Standards. Her latest project was the editing of Volume 2 of the World Era series: The Rise and Spread of Islam, 622-1500.  Her chapter in that work is titled “Leisure, Recreation, and Daily Life”.
