Statement on the Assassination of Benazir Bhutto

by Imam Yahya Hendi

Imam Hendi urges all Muslim to take a stand once and for all for peace, human rights, and freedom.

Dear sisters and brothers,
Assalamu Alaikum.

The Almighty One decreed that he who murders one person it will be as if he has killed all of humanity. Consequently, I wanted to offer my condolences to our Pakistani sisters and brothers and to the world for the senseless murder of Mrs. Benazir Bhutto.

I, and with all my power, speak against this murder considering it a crime and a sin. I do believe that this is not a way by which people can solve their differences. Violence is NEVER the way and there is no justified reason for it, never and ever.

The Muslim world must resort to democracy. It must show once and again that they do actually and in action have respect for the dignity of all people and for human rights or it will not deserve the respect it is asking for. The Muslim world has no other choice but to respect the role and the rule of law in its lands or, otherwise, it will die.

Because I love my faith, I urge all Muslim to take a stand once and for all for peace, human rights, freedom, dialogue and against violence in all its forms whether against Muslims or other than Muslims.

The Almighty One calls on us to honor one another, respect one another and listen to one another. The Almighty One wants us to plant peace, build bridges and make friends. God is on the side of those who make peace and He blesses those who make peace and not war.
So, let us all use this sad moment to ensure that we all become sources of hope and peace.
Remember that there is no ocean love cannot dive in, there is no wall love cannot bring down, there is no war love cannot end and there is no house love cannot build.

May God be with us all.
Was-salaam.
Imam Yahya Hendi
