Munir A. Shaikh

Mr. Shaikh was raised in southern California. He has a Master’s Degree in Islamic Studies from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry from the University of California at Riverside. He is currently completing his PhD. in Islamic Studies at UCLA, with a specialization in the history of medieval Islamic Spain.

Mr. Shaikh has been associated with CIE since its founding in 1990, having previously served as the organization’s Administrator. In his capacity as Executive Director, Mr. Shaikh is responsible for formulating organizational policies & procedures; managing office staff and logistics; designing new initiatives and projects; planning and documenting the development of new resources for teachers, publishers, community members, and others; coordinating and articulating CIE’s print and online presence; and implementing administrative and fundraising strategies that contribute to the institutionalization of the organization.
