Biography: Dr. Asifa Quraishi teaches both core classes for the School of Law, as well asc classes on Islamic Law and comparative legal theory. In 2001, she drafted a clemency appeal brief in the case of Bariya Ibrahim Magazu, a Nigerian woman sentenced to flogging for fornication. Quraishi is a founding member of the National Association of Muslim Lawyers (NAML) and the American Muslims Intent on Learning and Activism (AMILA), as well as a member of the Muslim Women’s League. She has also served as president and board member of Karamah: Muslim Women for Lawyers for Human Rights.
