Pasha, Imam Ibrahim

IBRAHIM PASHA is the Associate Imam of the Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam, one of the most progressive Masajid in the American Society of Muslims. He is a member of the National American Society of Muslims Shura (leadership body), as well as the Presiding Imam of the Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam Majlis Ash Shura.

Imam Pasha was born to Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Rawls of Selma, Alabama. He was raised by his grandmother, who became a member of the Nation of Islam in the 1940´s in Cincinnati, Ohio, and is one of Imam Pasha´s greatest inspirations.

In the mid 1950´s Imam Pasha became a resident of Chicago, IL and entered the Muslim High School - University of Islam, where he excelled scholastically and gratudated with honors. He later attended the Rochester Institute of Technology and studied Web Offset Newspaper Management and Graphic Arts Composition Systems.

As a very young man, he began to display leadership qualities and became an aide and director of many of the multi-faceted self-help programs of the Nation of Islam. Under the leadership, guidance and instruction of Imam W. Deen Mohammed, Imam Pasha was appointed the Resident Imam of the Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam. He became a leader of change in the transition of the community from the Nation of Islam into the true universal practice of Al-Islam. He also served as the Southern Regional Imam for the National Community.

Imam Pasha has been very active in community outreach efforts. He served as a member of Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson´s Religious Advisory Committee, and as a member of ARMAC (Atlanta´s Religious Mobilization Against Crime), it´s Executive Branch.

Imam Pasha is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, among them, a House of Representative State of Georgia Resolution of Recognition; he was adopted as Honorary Citizen of the City of New Orleans, LA; he was honored as Honorary Mayor of Prichard, AL; he was given an Ibrahim Pasha Day in the city of Daytona Beach, FL; he was honored with a Citizen Action Award from the State of Georgia and a Community Service Award from the National Black Women´s Conference, as well as being the recipient of many awards from the various Masajid and Islamic Centers throughout the country.

Imam Pasha is highly sought after for his counsel, and his lectures at colleges/universities, churches, prisons, conferences and Islamic events.

Imam Pasha has performed the Hajj (pilgrimmage) to the Holy Cities of Mecca and Madina, Saudi Arabia on two occasions and he has visited other Muslim Countries on business on behalf of the Southern Region, USA.

Imam Ibrahim Pasha is married to Faridah Pasha who also has a long history of service to the Muslim Community. They are the parents of seven children - fives sons and two daughters.
