Gubernatorial Candidate Charlie Crist Drops Anti-Islam Preacer

BREAKING NEWS: FL CANDIDATE DROPS ANTI-ISLAM PREACHER

(MIAMI, FL, 9/22/2006) - Florida Attorney General and gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist has dropped a controversial minister who claims Islam is “evil” from a campaign policy council web site.

The listing for Rev. O’Neal Dozier has been removed from the Crist campaign’s “Strengthening Florida’s Families” council web page. Dozier has openly opposed the building of a mosque in Pompano Beach and has repeatedly called Islam a “cult” that “teaches evil and hatred.”

After Dozier made public statements attacking Islam, Governor Jeb Bush removed him from the Seventeenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission.

Yesterday, the Florida office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-FL) urged Crist to drop Dozier.
