WASHINGTON, D.C. – In its continuing efforts to safeguard and address potential threats to civil liberties, the Arab American Institute (AAI) has joined more than sixty national organizations in becoming a partner of the Liberty Coalition.

The Liberty Coalition is an organization that works to help organize, support, and coordinate transpartisan public policy activities related to civil liberties and basic human rights, and serves as a network of partner groups.

“The Liberty Coalition addresses important subjects that are at the center of issues facing the Arab American community today,” said AAI President James Zogby. “We’re proud to join the Liberty Coalition and the many other organizations that are working to preserve civil liberties and basic human freedoms.”

The Liberty Coalition focuses such issues as the USA Patriot Act, government surveillance, financial and medical privacy and a myriad of topics relating to national security.
