AAI Expresses Condolences for Loss of Chaldean Archbishop Paulos Faraj Rahho

WASHINGTON - March 13, 2008 - The Arab American Institute expresses deep sadness at the death of Paulos Faraj Rahho, Archbishop of Mosul. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Chaldean community today as they deal with the senseless loss of a valued, honorable leader of their spiritual family.

We call upon all peoples to push forward in search of an end to this violence and division, and work towards a restoration of peace and justice for all. The suffering of all Iraq’s people is personified by the death of Archbishop Paulos Faraj Rahho, and we grieve for them, as well as with them.

It is impossible to look at this tragic loss and fail to recognize the urgent need for peaceful, diplomatic solutions to take precedence over intimidation and violence. That is a point on which all can agree - Christian and Muslim, Arab and Kurd, Iraqi and American.
